Pleural Mesothelioma is the most common type of mesothelioma

Pleural Mesothelioma is the most common type of mesothelioma, appearing in some 70% of diagnosed cases. There is no evidence that radiotherapy could help to cure or to prolong the survival of patients with malignant pleural mesothelioma. In 80% of the patients with malignant pleural mesothelioma there is a clear history of occupational or domestic exposure to asbestos. Pleural mesothelioma is a cancer that affects the lining of the lungs.

This type is most common and most dangerous for asbestos exposure related illnesses. Also, in the advanced stages of pleural mesothelioma, the cancer may spread to other nearby organs, including the heart, abdomen, and lymph nodes. Ultimately, a definitive diagnosis of malignant pleural mesothelioma is achieved by the use of sophisticated x-rays such as CT scans and MRI scans.
